I have not read the source material that this piece of work is based on; neither do I have any background regarding the character. I have had looked through your Gallery and the rest of your artwork. This will be a critical critique of this piece and also its comparison to your previous work. To see how you have improved, how you can improve and the overall impact of this piece and your artwork in general.
Your work has a large basis of fantasy and the art style reflects this in a very dramatic and regal way. It inspires a sense of amazement and child like wonder.
Ever piece seems as individual as the last, the only think connecting them is the skill and style; that your work natural inherits.
This piece called Kerria, being your latest piece shows an amazing display of skill and imagination. It has so any components that make this work a masterpiece.
And I shall now list them in detail.
The mountings in the background, has an incredible liner path of development when comparing it to the foreground. The shading, size and colour development truly gives the considerable feel of scale. The dark gray tone that progresses and becomes clearer, gives the impression that a dark blanket of shadows/fog is covering the land. A few very shallow beams of light piece the sky adding to this effect and give the image a foreboding nature. The background says that, “this women is the bringer of light, that shall dispel the darkness; that blankets the land.” The texture of the piece is easily one of the most noticeable and distinguished parts; it gives the impression go grate adventure and the excitement/wonder of the land.
The glints of light on the shimmering armour, expresses a divine nature, her posture is strong; she stands tall with her spear and shield in hand ready to take on the hardship that most likely awaits her. The colouring and style of her uniform suggest a warrior of prestige status. The movement and flying motion created by the free flowing cloth, adds emphasis that she is high up. She has journeyed this far defying the odds and she can see the path ahead of her, she will continue to journey into the darkness until she has reached her goal.
The free flowing ribbon also suggests that she is defying the harsh winds and she has inner strength and resolve unlike any other.
She has a look of resolve and purity on her face; she is destined to chance the world. The look she portrays is also solid and even she would do what she considered to be justice without a moment’s hesitation. She is also cold and calculating a tactical warrior that could overpower any enemy.
Lastly the symbolism is abundant.
An eagle suggesting justice, loyalty and a royal status.
Serpents, suggest her tactful nature
And colours such as gold, red and silver; which thought history have been some of the most expensive colourings/ materials.
From your earlier works I would have to say that you have defiantly shown progress, in both your artistic style; you’re over all skill. But most importantly your recognition of what makes a harmonic images. I cannot find many problems in your current work other than the scale and sizing of the woman; also the position of some of her ligaments.
From what I have said, I am sure you can tease out where you have gone wrong in the past, at least from my prospective. Other than all I can only say that your current level of work is at the upmost of an impressive nature.
